Xavi Simons will spend the 2024-25 season on loan at RB Leipzig, but that hasn’t stopped rumors about his long-term future from surfacing. One Bundesliga team already has the Dutch player lined up to replace their star player next summer.
Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sport Germany recently reported that Bayern Munich is already focusing on clear targets for 2025. The club’s top priority is to recruit Florian Wirtz or Simons next summer. However, they will face competition.
Manchester United is reportedly interested in the player this summer and it wouldn’t be surprising if they revisit this file next year to add more Dutch flavor to their squad following the arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee to join manager Erik ten Hag.
Nevertheless, another German club is interested in the player as Sport Bild reports that Bayer Leverkusen is monitoring Simons and may recruit him next summer.
Even manager Xabi Alonso reached out to Simons this summer to share his vision with him. A potential transfer of Florian Wirtz next summer could help fund the deal.
